RailOne vs IRCTC Connect

Here’s a clear comparison between RailOne and IRCTC Connect (often called IRCTC Rail Connect), so you know what each app does and how they differ:

📲 RailOne vs IRCTC Connect — Main Differences

🧠 Purpose & Scope

  • 🚆 RailOne
    – A new all-in-one train travel “super-app” launched by Indian Railways.
    – It brings together most services previously offered by multiple apps (including IRCTC, UTSonMobile, NTES, Rail Madad, food ordering, etc.) into one place.
    – You can do things like book tickets (reserved + unreserved), track trains live, order food, check PNR, file complaints, and manage refunds — all from one app.
  • 📅 IRCTC Connect (Rail Connect)
    – The traditional official app by IRCTC focused mainly on online booking of reserved train tickets (including general quota, Tatkal, Premium Tatkal, etc.).
    – You can also view or cancel those tickets, check seat availability, and manage bookings synced with the IRCTC website.

RailOne handles both reserved and unreserved tickets — a big advantage — while IRCTC Connect is focused on reserved online bookings only.

🛠️ Additional Features

  • RailOne
    • Live train tracking (real-time location, platform number, coach position)
    • PNR status & full booking history
    • Food ordering to seat (IRCTC e-catering integration)
    • Rail Madad complaints
    • Integrated digital wallet (R-Wallet) with discounts on some tickets
    • Single sign-on (use your IRCTC or UTS login)
  • IRCTC Connect
    • Simple reserved ticket search and booking
    • View and cancel reservations
    • Syncs with IRCTC website bookings
    • Offers basic PNR status and reservation chart info

In short: RailOne is a full travel ecosystem, while IRCTC Connect is a dedicated ticket booking tool.

📌 User Experience & Interface

  • RailOne: Modern, unified interface designed to reduce the need to switch between multiple apps. Single login with biometric/mPIN support.
  • IRCTC Connect: Functional and well-established, but focused mainly on ticketing — won’t show real-time trains or other services in one place.

🛑 Important Note

From March 1, 2026, the older UTS app (used for unreserved tickets) is being discontinued, and RailOne becomes the official app for both reserved and unreserved mobile ticket booking. You still can use IRCTC Connect for reserved bookings, but RailOne is intended to replace most other railway apps going forward.

Summary

  • 📍 Use RailOne if: you want one app for everything — reserved + unreserved tickets, live tracking, food, help/complaints, wallet, and more.
  • 📍 Use IRCTC Connect if: you mostly just want to book reserved train tickets and prefer the traditional interface.
